Missourians to End Poverty

Date:    2010-03-17
2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Details:

MASW’s Economic Justice Task Force and the MASW Central Chapter will host Mr. David Humphrey, Community Collaboration Coordinator with the Missouri Association for Community Action.

David will discuss the Missourians to End Poverty initiative; MASW is a member of this coalition of various individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies who have come together around the following vision:

As Missourians, we envision a just society of shared responsibility by individuals, communities, business, and government in which all individuals are respected, have opportunities to reach their full potential and to participate in thriving, diverse, sustainable communities.

David will address the five key focus areas -- the Five Pillars of Poverty -- that intersect to create this shared vision: Health Care; Housing and Energy; Economic and Family Security; Food; and Education.

This forum is part of a full day of social justice activity in Jefferson City, including Advocacy Day for MASW's Criminal Justice Task Force and for the Moratorium NOW! campaign of Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (of which MASW is a member).

Please plan on attending this informative meeting.
