Target Populations Training
In June 2010, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released a series of seven health questions to be asked of each client at point of intake. The intent of these new requirements is to identify and connect clients with the resources available to them in their community. In response, the Missouri Association for Social Welfare (MASW) has begun working in collaboration with Missouri agencies to provide webinar-based trainings specific to each question. For your convenience, these webinars and their accompanying documentation have been posted below.

Substance Abuse and Homelessness Webinar ![]()
Estimated length of presentation is 30 minutes.
This is a collaborative training between the Missouri Association for Social Welfare (MASW) and the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse with the Department of Mental Health (DMH). This training came about in response to the series of seven health questions required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the individual who does the client intake to ask, in particular the one surrounding substance abuse. The goal of the training is to identify and connect clients with the resources available to them in their community, to make the individual who does the client intake to feel more comfortable in asking the question, and to provide a suggested framework for how to ask the question and respond to the possible answers. In addition, you may refer to the resources provided in the training as well as DMH’s website for further information at dmh.mo.gov.

The goal of the training is to identify and connect clients with the resources available to them in their community, to make the individual who does the client intake to feel more comfortable in asking the question, and to provide a suggested framework for how to ask the question. The goal of the training is to identify and connect clients with the resources available to them in their community, to make the individual who does the client intake to feel more comfortable in asking the question, and to provide a suggested framework for how to ask the question and respond to the possible answers.
