HMIS Training & Technical Assistance

A large part of pulling together useful data is having the individuals entering that data be well trained in how the HMIS system works. To make sure we’re collecting accurate data, training and Technical assistance is provided in several ways.

ROSIE Help Desk

Technical assistance is available to all users toll-free over the phone from MISI, our system administrator, at (800) 536-6474. They are available from 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, providing technical support and answering questions. Users needing assistance during the evening or weekend, can leave a message and their call will be returned.

Online Training

Online training and technical assistance sessions are offered regularly by the staff at MISI. These meetings use GoToMeeting in conjunction with a conference call, so users can speak to the instructor and ask questions as they go through how the system works, and even show the users more advanced uses of the HMIS. Currently there are two types of online training being offered:

Basic: An introduction for new users. This training covers the basics of entering client data into ROSIE. This training is also good for existing users who may want a refresher course.  All new users should go through the Basic Online training.

Advanced: A deeper look at what ROSIE can do. This training covers more of the advanced features of the system, and teaches users how to deal with more in-depth data issues.

Onsite Training

Onsite training and technical assistance sessions are offered only by special request. While we would love to provide hands-on training with every user, we are grant-funded like most non-profit programs, which limits the amount of travel we are able to do. Onsite training is only available to users that have been through at least the basic online training. If you have been through the online training and are interested in onsite training, contact Sandy Wilson, Director of HMIS and Special Projects, or John Robertson, HMIS Project Coordinator, to see what options might be possible.

Balance of State Continuum of Care Annual Training Session

The Balance of State Continuum of Care holds a grant application training annually, when HUD releases their SuperNOFA. The date of the training varies, depending on when the SuperNOFA is released. Any agencies applying for funds from HUD through the Continuum of Care are required to attend, which provides us an excellent opportunity to put on a training session. The HMIS training and technical assistance session takes place on the second day of the training, covering a variety of topics, and giving users the opportunity to ask any questions they might have.

When the grant application training date is announced, notice will be posted on the website and an email alert will be sent out. If you do not receive HMIS related emails now, and would like to, please contact John Robertson, HMIS Project Coordinator.
