2012 Winter Point In Time Count

It is once again time to prepare for the bi-annual Sheltered and Unsheltered Homeless Point-In-Time count (PIT).  The Governor’s Committee to End Homelessness dba Missouri Interagency Council on Homelessness will be asking for your assistance in counting individuals experiencing homelessness across Missouri.

The Missouri Association for Social Welfare’s (MASW) Homeless Missourian’s Information System (HMIS) staff will be coordinating the SHELTERED Point-In-Time count.

The HMIS staff will be collecting data for each homeless shelter/housing program offered by your organization and for EACH county served by those programs.  A survey will need to be completed for each program regardless whether shelter or housing was provided on January 25th, 2012.  If an agency provides services in multiple counties, a survey tool will need to be completed for each county which provided services on January 25th, 2012.

HPRP Agencies will complete surveys ONLY on HPRP participants that have met all of the following criteria:

2011 GCEH Homelessness Awareness Events

The Governor’s Committee to End Homelessness held its annual Homelessness Awareness Day event on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 10am to 2pm at the State Capitol Building in Jefferson City, Missouri. The theme for this year’s event was Missouri: Opening Doors to Our Communities. Related materials to this event can be accessed below.  Additional posting will be added when received.

Understanding 2010 Data Standards

MISI, the administrator of the ROSIE database for the HMIS Project, has developed a presentation to help HMIS Users understand the March 2010 Data Standards and the effect the changes may have on your agency’s specific programs. This presentation covers the HUD Universal and Program-Specific Data Elements and the data your agency is required to collect by program type. For your convenience, this presentation is also provided under the Forms Tab as an HMIS Helpful Tool.

Targeted Populations Training
For your convenience, a new tab has been created on the HMIS Home Page (eighth tab on left) entitled "Targeted Populations Training".
This tab contains all the necessary information in order to access the webinar-based trainings

Point-in-Time Count (PIT)
The Missouri Balance of State Continuum of Care conducts a Point in Time Sheltered and Unsheltered Homeless count twice a year in order to track the seasonal trends in the homeless population, and to get a more accurate picture of the homeless situation in the state.  MASW conducts the Sheltered PIT count while MHDC facilitates the Unsheltered PIT count.

Effective March 2010
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued a revised version of the HMIS Data Standards.
